Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

This base recipe was given to me from my good friend Kate. The recipe makes two large pizzas which is perfect for a pizza party or hosting game night with friends. You can top it however you like.

Ingredients

-1.5 Cups + 3 TB Warm Water

-1 TB or 1 package dry yeast

-1 TB Honey

-3 Cups Bread Flour

-1 Cup Whole wheat flour

-1/2 tsp salt

-olive oil

Directions

  1. Mix water, yeast, and honey in the base of your stand mixer. Let stand 10 minutes or until nice and bubbly.
  2. Add both flours and salt to the bowl. Mix well.
  3. Knead dough on medium speed for 10 minutes or until the dough is elastic.
  4. Coat a large non-reactive bowl with olive oil. Transfer the dough to the large bowl, turning the dough to coat it in the oil.
  5. Cover the bowl with a towel and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Punch down the dough and return to stand mixer. Knead for 5 more minutes.
  7. Return dough to the large bowl and allow to rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  8. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 425.
  9. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. (I use disposable pizza pans instead)
  10. Split the dough in half and spread out on the prepared pans. Dough should be about 1/2 inch thick.
  11. Top with your desired toppings and bake pizza for 15-20 minutes.
