Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
This base recipe was given to me from my good friend Kate. The recipe makes two large pizzas which is perfect for a pizza party or hosting game night with friends. You can top it however you like.
Ingredients
-1.5 Cups + 3 TB Warm Water
-1 TB or 1 package dry yeast
-1 TB Honey
-3 Cups Bread Flour
-1 Cup Whole wheat flour
-1/2 tsp salt
-olive oil
Directions
- Mix water, yeast, and honey in the base of your stand mixer. Let stand 10 minutes or until nice and bubbly.
- Add both flours and salt to the bowl. Mix well.
- Knead dough on medium speed for 10 minutes or until the dough is elastic.
- Coat a large non-reactive bowl with olive oil. Transfer the dough to the large bowl, turning the dough to coat it in the oil.
- Cover the bowl with a towel and allow to rest for 30 minutes.
- Punch down the dough and return to stand mixer. Knead for 5 more minutes.
- Return dough to the large bowl and allow to rise for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 425.
- Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. (I use disposable pizza pans instead)
- Split the dough in half and spread out on the prepared pans. Dough should be about 1/2 inch thick.
- Top with your desired toppings and bake pizza for 15-20 minutes.
Making this tonight! I wanted to see how much honey you decided to use. Yum!
